Our next Red River Valley American Wine Society tasting will be Saturday, May 9 at 7:00 pm. This month’s theme is 2020 Côtes de Bordeaux.
Côtes de Bordeaux is a group of appellations on Bordeaux’s Right Bank and surrounding hillside areas, including Blaye, Cadillac, Castillon, Francs, and Sainte-Foy. The word “côtes” points to the slopes and hillsides where many of these vineyards are planted. The wines are often Merlot-led, supported by Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and sometimes Malbec, giving them a generous red-fruited character with structure, spice, and good food-friendliness.
The 2020 vintage gives us a chance to taste how these wines are showing with a few years of age, while also exploring one of Bordeaux’s often better-value regions.
Please join us for an evening of good wine, good conversation, and a closer look at Côtes de Bordeaux.
