Rocking the Cradle

Stretching from the Black Sea east to the Caspian Sea lies the Caucasus mountain range. Historical and scientific evidence points to this area as the birthplace of modern vinifera wine grapes. Grapes have been cultivated and fermented into wines for over 8000 years in this region which encompasses modern day Georgia and Armenia. Traditional winemaking here that is centuries old uses large earthen pots, called ‘Qvevri’, buried in the ground to ferment and store both white and red wines. Today modern winemakers use a mixture of old and new world techniques to craft incredible wines from local indigenous grapes. Join us as we trek back to where it all began and taste the grapes of old.
