The La Mancha region lies just to the south and east of Madrid and represents the largest wine region in the world. Characterized by flat plains and long dry summers, the grapes of the region ripen to produce big bold wines. Tempranillo, Bobal, Garndacha and Monastrell dominate the red grape landscape but the region also produces some outstanding white wines from Macabeo, Albillo and Malvar. Long noted for inexpensive Vino Tinto and Vino Blanco, since the early 1990’s, winemaking practices have elevated the quality and character of these wines to new levels. This region arguably boasts some of the best values for the quality around. Of course, no Spanish wine tasting would be complete without being accompanied by Paella de Carlos™. Our hosts will be firing up his gigantic paella pan and feeding the masses with this traditional taste of Spain. We can’t wait to see you there!
