Join us on Saturday, March 14 for our next Red River Valley AWS tasting as we explore Zinfandel, a grape with deep California roots and a personality all its own. Although its origins trace to Croatia and it is genetically identical to Italy’s Primitivo, the name Zinfandel has become distinctly American.
Zinfandel is a grape that can show a lot of range in the glass. Expect bold fruit, lively spice, and plenty of character, often with notes of blackberry, raspberry, cherry, black pepper, clove, anise, and herbs. Some bottles lean bright and balanced, while others are richer, darker, and more powerful.
For this tasting, we’ll work through a lineup that highlights that range and gives us a chance to compare styles, talk about what makes Zinfandel so distinctive, and enjoy one of California’s most expressive red grapes. Whether you already love Zin or are just getting to know it, this should be a fun and flavorful evening.
