Beyond Sauvignon Blanc

This Saturday, our Red River Valley AWS tasting takes us to New Zealand — a country many wine drinkers immediately associate with Sauvignon Blanc, but one that has far more to offer than that familiar crisp, citrusy style.

Yes, we’ll taste Sauvignon Blanc. It would feel almost wrong not to. But this lineup also gives us a chance to explore the broader New Zealand wine story, including Riesling, Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Gamay Noir, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Syrah, and Bordeaux-style red blends from regions such as Marlborough, Auckland, Hawke’s Bay, Central Otago, Martinborough, and North Canterbury.

New Zealand’s white wines may have put the country on the world wine map, but its red wines are increasingly earning serious attention, especially Pinot Noir from cooler regions and structured reds from Hawke’s Bay’s gravelly soils. This tasting will be a great chance to try wines that may surprise you — and maybe even reset what you expect from New Zealand.

Join us for an evening of discovery, comparison, and conversation as we taste our way through one of the most exciting wine-producing countries in the Southern Hemisphere.
